Zakynthos island is about 320 km from Athens and can be reached both by bus and by plane. The bus is obviously the cheapest way and flying is the fastest.

How to get from Athens to Zakynthos by bus

Buses to Zakynthos depart from Kifisou station, platform 38. Kifisou station can be easily reached from Athens airport by bus X93 (€5), which takes about 45 minutes and arrives exactly where the bus to Zakynthos is waiting to depart. Athens – Zakynthos bus fares

The price for an Athens-Zakynthos bus ticket (which includes the ferry) is €35.50 and the trip takes about 6 hours, of which 4 hours by bus and 1 and a half hour by ferry, all the way to the bus terminal in Zakynthos. The trip includes 2 stops: the first at the halfway point, where you’ll have a 20-minute break at a highway service station to freshen up and get something to eat, and the second one at the Killini port, where you’ll get off the bus to board the ferry. Upon arrival at the Zakynthos port, just outside the ferry, you will find the bus that will drop you off at the bus station.

Reservations

Bus tickets can be reserved both online on the KTEL website and by phone, by calling 00302105129432 and arriving at least 30 minutes before departure. They can also be purchased directly at the station. This last option is not recommended in high season.

How to get from Athens to Zakynthos by plane

Three airlines fly to Zakynthos from Athens airport: Skyexpress, Olympic Airlines and Aegean. The planes they use are usually ATRs, which take about 50 minutes to reach Zakynthos airport.
