What to do in Zakynthos when it rains

Take a tour of the city and museums
Zante town, the capital and main port of the island, offers many opportunities: museums, churches, shops and numerous bars and restaurants. In case of rain or bad weather you can choose between a walk among the shops to buy souvenirs, a visit to museums and churches, enjoy a coffee on the seafront or on the central square of San Marco in one of the two most popular bars on the island. Visit the viewpoint on Bochali Hill
Behind the city of Zakynthos on the hill of Strani, stands the village of Bochali from which you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city of Zakynthos. Here you can also go and visit the Venetian castle, enter the small internal streets or sit in one of the bars near the balcony overlooking the city.
Visit the viewpoint on the Mizithres rocks
Even if it rains in Zakynthos, nothing prevents you from reaching the viewpoint to observe the Mizithres stacks from above. We do not recommend, however, to reach the point from which leaning over you can observe these two imposing rocks, as in case of bad weather there are strong gusts of wind. Visit the viewpoint on the Shipwreck Beach
The beauty of the Beach of the Shipwreck remains unchanged, even in case of bad weather or rain. To reach the viewpoint you will pass through some traditional villages, including Exo Chora, where on the main square there is the oldest olive tree on the island with over 2,000 years, Volimes, Anafonitria, where you can stop to take some photos and observe how the locals. Visit the Aristeon oil mill
Zakynthos is famous for its extra virgin olive oil. In almost all the localities of the island there are oil mills, the best known is the Aristeon oil mill, here you can see the old equipment for the production of oil and taste their extra virgin and citrus-flavored oils for free.
Visit the local wineries
Another good activity to do when it rains in Zakynthos is to visit the local wineries and book for a wine tasting. The main wineries of Zakynthos are Goumas, Gramsas and Calinico. Here it is possible to try the wines produced with the Verdea, Augustiadis and Vostilidi varieties, the latter being more common on the nearby island of Kefalonia.

Have fun at Tsilivi Bowling
If you are looking for an indoor place to spend a few hours, the Tsilivi Bowling Center is definitely for you. Here you can spend a few hours playing bowling, billiards or table football with your friends. There are also games for children, so it is also a valid alternative for families.
Try the local cuisine
At lunchtime on sunny days you will probably have lunch in one of the places close to the beach, take advantage of the rainy days to go to small taverns with local cuisine such as Kantouni (open only for lunch), Malanos where chef Nikos prepares all the days a limited number of Greek dishes or Ladolemono where Andreas at lunch time puts different types of meat to turn on the spit.
Sit down on a place with a sea view
Sitting in the shelter of rain and bad weather to observe the sea is another activity to be taken into consideration. In Zakynthos there are numerous bars and restaurants where you can sit for a few hours watching the sea while enjoying a coffee or a meal.
