Welcometozante’s blog: a database of information on Zakynthos
In recent years, with the success of our agency, which promotes excursions and events in Zakynthos, and our very popular blog, that has reached over 100,000 readers, a few websites (some of which are illegal) and competing agencies have started using Welcometozante as keyword or hashtag to mislead readers searching for us on Google or social media. In the first part of this article, we’ll explain how not to fall into this trap and in the second part, we’ll list the articles you should definitely read when planning a holiday in Zakynthos.
WELCOMETOZANTE: ABOUT US
We are a tourist agency in Zakynthos, located at the Agios Sostis/Laganas port, a few steps from Cameo Island. We have been promoting excursions and events in Zakynthos for over 20 years. Our experience working closely with thousands of tourists every year and our deep knowledge of the island, helped us understand what problems people face when vacationing in Zakynthos, and we have therefore created the Welcometozante blog to help our customers (and not only) enjoy the island to the fullest.
WELCOMETOZANTE NOT ONLY A BLOG: ALL OUR INITIATIVES
Our agency has been promoting numerous activities, including the following:
- Free paper map/guide
- Free banana water sport
- Free souvenir bracelet
- Free laminated card for people with celiac disease
- Weather and sea alerts when tours are cancelled
- Date and time change in case of bad weather
- Office in Zakynthos with international staff
- Exposing unauthorized websites on social media
- Updated and reliable blog
HOW TO TELL IF THE WEBSITE IS FAKE
According to Greek law, an agency promoting excursions must have an office on site, just as in some countries only agencies and tour operators can sell excursions. Although there is still little monitoring online, you can still protect yourself by verifying the following:
1. That the agency or person promoting the tours has an office on site; in fact, in Greece, you cannot receive a tourist agency license from the EOT (picture above) if you don’t have a physical agency in Zakynthos.
2. That the same EOT logo is also displayed on the website where you are purchasing the excursion, with a number after the following Greek text ΑρΓΕΜΗ (picture above).
3. That it has a Greek number with a +30 area code and that said number is the same as the one displayed on the website.
4. That it issues a receipt with a Greek AFM (if for example, the receipt displays an Italian VAT code, it might not be legal).
Without these guarantees, in case of problems with the excursion, bad weather or rough sea, you won’t be able to exercise your rights or request a refund and these people/profiles/sites will suddenly become untraceable.
